Happy Dance.
No lie, this makes me ridiculously giddy. :) The print issue made me freak out - being named one of Toronto's six most inspiring home blogs. GET OUT. Now that it's online, well, freak out number two. Happy Thursday!

Toronto Life Magazine
Happy Friday! I'm on vacation right now from the shop, so I'm spending less time at my computer and more time trying to get my legs to look less like Casper the ghost and have some colour before I wear a dress for my brother's wedding. So far no luck but I have a few days left to accomplish some colour. ;) To end the week I thought I would post some exciting news in my little world. I found (and of course proceeded to buy all of the copies) of a special issue of Toronto Life on stands now....
I was among five pretty cool bloggers that Toronto Life rounded up on the last page of the issue....They wrote "Toronto has its share of home-grown decor blogs. Here to separate the frou-frou from the fabulous, six of our favourites." Noted are Jacquelyn Clark or Lark and Linen, Nikole Herriott, Emma Reddington of The Marion House Book but also as you know, Chatelaine Magazine, the team of Juli Daoust and John Baker of Kitka, and Michael Penney.
Wheee! Seriously folks, it never gets old seeing your name in print.
Anyhow, I really appreciated the shout-out. I love writing this blog, so to know others like to read it really makes me happy. So thank you for taking part in my ramblings about design decisions, mistakes, and dilemmas. xo Linds

as seen in ....
I know that posts like this aren't likely to gain much feedback but it's a nice moment in my household so I felt as though it is still worthy of a post. Last Saturday The National Post published the "Ikea Hack Attack" article that I was interviewed for. BUT right beside that article was as another article by Samantha Pynn giving us a huge mention. Thank you to Samantha Pynn for using our cookbook shelf as an example of how to display cookbooks and to Adam McDowell for including us in the Ikea Hack Attack article.
I feel like my level of excitement the last few weeks can be best explained by these animated gifs. ;)

Quickly popping in to share this .... Ikea gave our Kitchen renovation the seal of approval by dedicating an entire album to our renovation on their facebook page. Yay! If you're a new reader - check out my archives for helpful posts on the Ikea kitchen process. Hopefully some of the posts will prove to be helpful. Anyhow, signing off for the rest of the week. Have a great weekend. xo
Ps., Love this photo above, and it seemed fitting to share it as it's one of our more popular Ikea projects. At The Bay preview yesterday I met Samantha Pynn, who as you many of you know, inspired our Ikea bench.

First TV Appearance...
Ok, so I finally share part of the news that I have been itching to tell you. Next Tuesday, I'll be on the CBC's Steven & Chris Show! So the background is this. A month ago, the show e-mailed me and asked I'd be interested in being on their show for a new feature. My initial reaction was "Oh my god no. No. no. no." There is something comforting about hiding behind a blog. You can compose your words carefully, be in sweat pants. But being on camera - the things you say are taped the first time you say it, the clothes we wear are evident...You have to look put together. And, chasing around after Oscar I rarely feel that I am. But I thought - "Why Not" and not that much later, I was inviting a camera crew into my house. (that I blogged about here)
What they taped that day I've been asked not to be specific about but it's a few completed rooms of my house. :) And there is more...there was Part 2 to the whole production....

I had to go to the set to tape a segement for their website, and, got to sit in the audience and watch the 1st piece with my Mom and Dad beside me. (Sorry Mom for the really awkward shot, I know she'll probably really hate me for that one) I can't get too detailed about it, but it was awesome fun.
In the end, it was a total blast. I'm a huge fan of the show and CBC* to start with, but the graciousness of the whole team that I experienced that day was pretty amazing. To see how the show is put together amazes me. Tune in October 18th to see it air and afterwards I'll post more behind the scenes photos. ;)
That's it. Don't laugh. I'm a huge nerd which will be evident on the show. ;)
Photos: My Mom, My Dad, Steven and Chris, Me with Elizabeth Wharnsby who works for the show (love her!) - you may recognize her from Peter Fallico's Home to Flip Series, and finally a shot of me on set. (Although I didn't tape there, I had to snap a photo)
* Aubrey works for the CBC, so we're big fans of it in our house! Go CBC!
